$10,000 for Volunteers...Anyone out there fruit harvesting for the hungry and other service projects?

Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program.
Entry Deadline March 15, 2011

Along with my fruit harvesting for the hungry adventures, I often find exciting CONTESTS and GRANTS for volunteers in our community. Hauling fruit to food pantries is an excellent way to make a difference to those in need. The Lemon Lady can always use the help. Can you or a child you know use $10,000 for college? Kohl's Store Gift Cards? Plus, many other cool prizes?

My little "Lemon Lady Jr." is only four years old. When she turns six, Grandma and Grandpa will submit her nomination for a young community helper.

What are you waiting for?

If I were a teacher...Inspiring Students to Make a Difference. $25,000 Community Grants.

I'm a Mommy to a caring, sharing almost 4 year-old. The Lemon Lady "Mommy-Daughter" campaign against hunger helps solve a serious hunger and nutrition problem by engaging volunteers near and far - and personally harvesting or delivering over 100+ tons of healthy fruits and vegetables to the poor and hungry. Volunteers are always welcome and always needed. Contact your local food pantry or county food bank. Find out about hunger in your community. Believe me...hunger IS a problem in every community! Let's do something about it.

If I were a teacher, I'd begin this project in the schools. Teach children to share and care. Who better than energetic middle-schoolers to help spread the word? FRUIT GROWS ON TREES and FRUIT CAN FEED THE HUNGRY. It can't walk itself into a food pantry. Community minded individuals are needed to help bring fruit to food banks! It really is a simple message and an easy way to make a difference in your community. Any Town, USA.

Be inspired. Harvest fruit for the hungry. Make a difference today.

CLICK HERE to learn about the Christopher Columbus Awards.

The Christopher Columbus Awards is a national, community-based science and technology program for middle school students. The program challenges the students to work in teams of three to four, with an adult coach, to identify a problem in their community and apply the scientific method to create an innovative solution to that problem.

Eight finalist teams and their coaches will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World® to attend National Championship Week and compete for valuable U.S. Savings Bonds and the $25,000 Columbus Foundation Community Grant, plus a $200 development grant to further refine their idea.

Is technology a good investment for schools? Can a student you know use $1,000?

This is a fun opportunity for any high schooler to write a 300 word essay and possibly win a grant of $1,000. Easy as pie! Easier than proramming the DVR. Sharpen your pencils...and get writing!

"Technology costs money. School budgets are tight. Samsung Techwin America is asking students across America to write an essay on the topic of technology as an investment in education. We want to hear what high school students think about the ramifications of spending on education technology as well as alternative ways to invest a school district's limited budget."

Last year, a student from Vacaville, California was one of several winners. How about someone from Concord, Clayton, Martinez, Pleasant Hill or another nearby town? Good luck students out there!

Just like picking lemons...if WE do nothing, nothing will ever get done. Let's encourage our youth to invest in our community and make this world a better place. Here's a thousand dollar incentive!
