Super Local Seeds! Contra Costa County, California grown...

Wanted to share something wonderful with you today.

Last year, I was invited to pick apricots from Annie Appleseed's backyard tree and enjoyed touring the lovely oasis of gorgeous flowers and interesting seed pods. Annie is a super sweet, generous and caring gardener, school teacher, and seed saver too! She offers an extensive selection of locally harvested flower seeds for purchase. I never knew this little venture existed in our very own backyard in Pleasant Hill, Calfiornia.

Take a look at her lovely website: www.annieappleseeds.com, sooooooo many beautiful seeds. If you love flowers, you're sure to find something that tickles your fancy and delights your senses.

Anyone interested in Going Greener with the Lemon Lady? Earth needs a few good heroes...

How to recycle caps and lids, hard, rigid plastic:

EMAIL: AnnaAndAva@gmail.com or call: 510.406.1625

This "hero" needs a little help from area businesses, non-profit groups, individuals, anyone who is willing to host a collection container to collect plastic caps and lids. Our Earth needs a hero. Won't YOU be a hero today. (I can't do it all alone.) I will refer your business as a collection point for the public to drop off plastic caps and lids.

Residents all over the Bay Area are interested in collecting these plastic items for recycling. Curbside recycle companies usually do not accept this type of plastic. Go ahead, call your local waste management organization and learn the facts today. Once you learn the facts, doesn't it just make you feel like going GREEN?

From Aveda's website:
"This program educates students and underscores the impact of
positive change.

This project teaches students that we are all responsible for
taking care of our environment. It empowers us all to stimulate
change on a local and national level. And beyond the benefits of
environmental conservation, it teaches students that when we all
work together with a common purpose, we can effect change."

How awesome!

Volunteers Needed This Sunday, March 7th

A friend, Edi Birsan has asked me to blog about this event.

Volunteers Needed This Sunday, March 7th! School Supply Initiative's Third and Final 1.7 Million Dollar Assembly

CLICK HERE for flyer and info.

Perhaps our community can lend a hand and be inspired to help. Many of these backpacks are being distributed to children in Concord schools too. All they're asking is for volunteers to assemble backpacks stuffed with school supplies. Easy way to do good for someone. I wish their efforts success!

A little inspiration for teachers today...

Even amidst budget cuts and education woes, we are still a community that must nurture our young. If I were a teacher, I'd write a 250 word essay...and get lost in my thoughts. I hope and dream for a better tomorrow. CLICK HERE to be inspired. $10,000.

Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower...

Good Morning Sunshine and friends of The Lemon Lady,

A simple request. Please save gallon milk jugs. Rinse them thoroughly after use, and save the lids too. My gardening project can leap to greater bounds if I have more milk jugs. I'm growing and inspiring others to grow all over Concord, Clayton, Walnut Creek and Alamo.

Seedlings are being supplied to four community gardens, so I can always use more help with my volunteer seedling donation project. For those who don't have time to volunteer...how about saving a few milk jugs for me? Thank you kindly.

Happy Gardening and Sweet Lemonade.
